Jennifer Garner is a West Virginia native born in Houston on the 17th of April, 1972. William John Garner worked as the chemist of Union Carbide. Patricia Ann Garner, the mother of Patricia Ann, taught at the local college. Her father was a chemical engineer which is why she wanted to be like him. To achieve her dream of becoming an actress, she relocated in New York. Chefs were employed at a New York restaurant as well as appearing in Broadway productions. Garner was a small part on "Felicity" (where the show was where she first encountered Scott Foley). Garner made her debut in Alias the action thriller. Her debut part was in the acclaimed love story 13 Going on 30. In it she played the teenager trapped inside a 30plus year old's body. Garner chose Gary Winick to direct the film; they were looking at other projects until Winick's death in 2011. Garner was appointed ambassador for Save the Children U.S.A. in the year 2009. The program focuses on the importance of nutrition, literacy and early childhood education. Garner is a board member as the group's president since 2014, is an advocate of early learning. She has been a spokesperson to the Early Steps to School Success Program, where she coaches parents on how to best help their children to learn.
